Regina runs past Mid-Prairie
Regina Regals vs. Mid Prairie JV/V 4:30 pm 04/29/2008 - Rick Larew
Regina beats MP 9-0
Regina's Running Regals ran to their sixth victory of the season in a 9-0 victory over the Golden Hawks of Mid-Prairie Monday night. Derek Hanrahan opened the scoring in the first period at the 13 minute mark and he would record two more goals before the half was over. Marcus Kloos had an assist on a direct kick that Daniel Larew finished past the keeper just in front of the goal mouth to complete the first half scoring at 4-0.
Two minutes into the second half Mike Rummelhart was taken down with a foul inside the 18 yard box and he was awarded a penalty kick which he drilled past the goalie for a 5-0 score. Ten minutes later Justin Reeve drove a hard shot just inside the left post for a 6-0 lead and Teddy Larew scored moments later from the opposite side of the 18 yard box. At the 67 minute mark Daniel Larew scored his second goal by chipping the ball over the head of the goalie who had come out to cut down Daniel's angle as he cut in from the left side of the 18. The last goal was scored by starting goalie P.J. Lanaghan who played in the field the second half and dribbled through several defenders and then beat the Golden Hawk goalie for a 9-0 count.
P.J. Lanaghan, Adam Fuller, and Steve Grabowski all shared goalie responsibilities and recorded the shutout: Regina's record stands at 6-1 and five of the six victories have been shut outs.
Coach Rick Larew sited Tyler Ronnfeldt who came off the bench and played his best game ever as a Regal as he filled in at both the right wing and attacking midfielder spots. The rotating strikers duos of Seniors Derek Hanrahan and Austin Rouner and back up Freshmen Johnny Rummelhart and Daniel Larew put constant pressure on the Mid Prairie defense and combined for five scores.
Regina plays next this Saturday, 5/3/08 at Clear Creek Amana: the JV game starts at 9:00 a.m. with the Varsity game to follow at the high school athletic complex in Tiffin.
